my inspiration for pretty sports is my daughter julianna. SHE IS A YOUNG ATHLETE who has her own sense of style and self. She loves playing sports - especially basketball and tennis.
when i told her i was naming the company pretty sports, she wasn’t a fan. The word pretty gives her the ick. and honestly, it gave me the ick too thinking about how much power a word can hold over a girl’s self worth.
and that is why I chose it as our company’s name. Because it does hold power. But we’re not pretty and fragile like a flower. we’re pretty and fragile like a bomb.
We Created prettY SPORTS to challenge gender stereotypes in sports and empower young female athletes to be who they want to be and to thrive on and off the court. (Or field.)
